Zonta is once again celebrating International Women' Day for 2016 with a dinner and a very interesting guest speaker. This year, Stacey Currie will be coming to Mount Isa to speak at our dinner and to congratulate the recipients of the Woman of Achievement, Young Woman of Achievement and (the new) School
Based Woman of Achievement Awards.
Stacey Currie has an extensive media profile and has been featured on A Current Affair, ABC's 7:30 Report, The Herald Sun, The Age and BRW magazine. She is also the Official Ambassador for the Lighthouse Foundation.
According to the usual script, Stacey should be living on the streets, in jail, on drugs or dead. She ticks all the boxes when it comes to risk factors, having experienced no mum throughout her life, brought up in housing commission, child sexual abuse, 15 and pregnant, 19 with two babies and homeless, 21 with three kids and living in a domestic violent relationship.
Stacey Currie is now a 32 year old busy mum of five children, a businesswoman, speaker, published author of The Rich Get Richer, The Poor Can Too and the Official Ambassador for both The Lighthouse and Brave Hearts.
While she is here in Mount Isa, Stacey will deliver a workshop - Believe YOU Can – to a group of local disengaged young women. Stacey will help them dig deep and find their passions, create a vision board, map out a step by step plan to get them to their ultimate goal which will increase their self-belief, confidence and inspire them to tap into their un-tapped potential.
More details on Stacey Currie can be found at staceycurrie.com and you will no doubt agree that she is bound to be a motivating and inspiring guest speaker.
