On Feb. 24, people in cities across the nation will challenge a system that favors rich corporations and the politicians who back them. Join the Chicago Teachers Union to say NO to corporate greed and the attack on working people!
Workers in unions like the CTU have fought for—and won—pensions, health
insurance, a shorter workday and a decent standard of living. Billionaire Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner and the Donald Trump administration want to destroy these rights through a U.S. Supreme Court case called Janus v. AFSCME that threatens to strip workers’ freedom to come together in strong unions to fight for our rights. At the same time, Mayor Rahm Emanuel and his billionaire backers like hedge fund boss Ken Griffin are mounting a wholesale attack on working class families—from closing down public schools in Black and Brown neighborhoods to slashing veteran Black teachers from the Chicago Public Schools payroll.
On Feb. 24, we’re joining unions and allies from across the region to oppose the billionaires and the politicians they bankroll, and to stand up for union power, for the rights of our students and families, and for Chicago’s working people and our communities.
We are meeting at Federal Plaza at 11 a.m., and from there we will walk up Dearborn St. to the site of the rally, which begins at noon.
