Join Alan Gubanich, former Vice President of the local Lahontan Audubon Society and longtime professor at UNR as he uses taxidermy mounts and photos to show you what birds you can possibly see during your winter hikes in the Galena Forest. The Galena Creek Visitor Center has a great collection of specimens
on loan from the Lahontan Audubon Society. Both beginner and experienced birders are invited to join us for a workshop on how to identify and look for these species. Bring your bird guides and binoculars if you have them.

From I-580 get off at the Mount Rose Highway exit (Hwy 431) and drive west toward Tahoe, about 7 miles. Take a right turn after the sign that says “Galena Creek Visitor Center.” You can’t miss it; there is an obvious right-hand turn lane after the sign. The Center is located on the right, in the first parking lot.
