It took us a good few months to recover from the amazing time we had at our previous Whizzy Wigs party with our great friend David Elimelech.
Then came the time to decide on the special guest for our third event. We were thrilled beyond belief when the lovely Jaye Ward responded positively and enthusiastically
to our call. We could not be any more proud to be flying her in from London for this very special party at our beloved Sousami Bar in Limassol.
Jaye Ward is a musical institution. The breadth of her knowledge is vast and the depth of it fathomless. But it is very far from simply encyclopedic. Jaye lives and breathes music. Furthermore, she takes great pleasure and enjoys every opportunity to share her passion and her discoveries with the music-loving public.
From her weekly radio shows to regular slots at the legendary Dalston Superstore, Jaye Ward is a versatile DJ in the truest sense of the word. That she is a musical goldmine has not gone unnoticed by some of the scene’s most well-respected musos like DJ Harvey and Jarvis Cocker who, to their credit, asked her to be part of their parties.
Listening to one of her many recordings or radio shows, one discovers that she easily and naturally mixes anything from acid house, deep house, techno and disco … to punk, post-punk, ska, reggae, dub, ambient and anything in between. Before you realise it you get taken on a journey like no other. A musical and cultural journey which blurs the lines and crosses the divides across genres, geographical borders and different time eras. Jaye has the unique power to include and to unite!
For the purposes of our gig at Sousami she threatens to bring a bag of her favourite records to keep us dancing madly until the morning hours and help us create magical memories for a lifetime. Honestly, we couldn't be any more excited!
Warming up the place for Jaye will be Mohama Tajalof and Georges D’ Andre. Two great friends whose musical partnership couldn’t have developed any more naturally. While their specific tastes and specialist musical interests vary enough to make things interesting, they share the same philosophy, enthusiasm, sensibility, sensitivity and sense of humour in their DJ work. Hearing them play together, it is easy to see the effortless chemistry. They complement, push forward and sometimes throw curve balls in order to have fun with each other and the audience.
