This is not your normal walk. This is a walk of awareness and empathy. This walk will require you to experience for a moment what our homeless friends experience on a daily basis in the heat of the summer.
Walkers will walk one mile on a hot Florida day in shoes that are not of their choosing with
their belongings in a bag. The purpose of this walk to is raise compassion and awareness for some of the conditions in which our poor and homeless live, as well as to raise funds for Interfaith's Homeless Shelter Program which serves women, children and families.
Walkers will show up at 9:30 am and will select the shoes in which they will walk from a selection of shoes provided (just like our homeless have to). Walkers will put their own shoes in a bag (provided) and walk for one mile in the heat of the morning along Silver Springs Blvd. to the Interfaith Center for Life.
Walkers are asked to come with $250 raised in sponsorships. There will be a grand prize for the person who raises the most money! Our goal is to have 100 walkers and each raise $250 which will raise $25,000 for our shelter ministry! (that's only 10 people to sponsor you for $25) Forms for tracking donor sponsorships can be found on our website or we can email it to you at our request in the comments section.
Bring in the most sponsorships in excess of $250 and win a Kayak!
