Auditions for our production of Urinetown, Music and Lyrics by Mark Hollmann, with Book and Lyrics by Greg Kotis, directed by Alex Garza, Choreographed By Laura Salas-Garza, Music Direction By Melissa Wilde will be held on January 26 & 27 from 7-9PM. Callback date and time will be announced.

Prepare:
One monologue no longer than 1 minute in length and your best 16-32 bars of a song well-suited for the role you are interested in playing. Piano accompaniment will be provided. A short dance combination will be taught, so dress appropriatly. Callbacks will be by invitatIon only.

About the show:
This hilarious musical comedy with the eyebrow-raising title, took Broadway by storm when it opened in 2001. The winner of three Tony Awards, including Best Musical Score, Urinetown is a social satire set in a fictional future where water is so scarce that the government enforces a ban on private toilets. A hero emerges to lead the people in the fight for their basic rights.

Synopsis:
In a grim, Gotham-like city, a 20-year drought has occurred. As a result, the government has banned private toiletries and the citizens must use pay toilets regulated by a monopolistic company, the Urine Good Company, which charges exorbitant prices. Bobby Strong, the assistant custodian at the poorest urinal in town, decides enough is enough. With the help of Hope Cladwell, the daughterof the CEO of the Urine Good Company, Bobby ends up leading a rebellion which frees the citizens.

BOBBY STRONG: The dashing, rebellious everyman who works for Miss Pennywise at the poorest, filthiesttown urinal. He becomes an unsuspecting protagonist and romantic hero when he starts a revolution and falls in love with Hope Cladwell.

CALDWELL B. CLADWELL: The evil president and owner of the Urine Good Company. He is a miserlymoney-grubber who gleefully exploits the poor.

HOPE CLADWELL: HOPE CLADWELL: CLADWELL: Cladwell's ravishingly beautiful daughter, torn between her father and her new lovefor Bobby. She begins as an innocent, naive angel who is fresh out of the Most Expensive University in theWorld, but becomes vengeful and determined after being exposed to her father's evil.

LITTLE SALLY: A precocious and irreverent street urchin. She serves as a quasi-narrator who often
questions Lockstock and the play's logic.

MR. MCQUEEN: Cladwell's sycophantic lackey. A servile assistant.

OFFICER BARREL: Lockstock's patrol partner. A thuggish and aggressive policeman.

OFFICER LOCKSTOCK: The tongue-in-cheek narrator of our story, he is a corrupt policeman who secretly kills off the guilty offenders. Bold, brash, and larger than life in many ways.

PENELOPE: The tough, jaded warden of the poorest, filthiest town urinal. She is Cladwell's one-time lover and mother to Hope who eventually softens her temper.
