I love my hair. It's long, it's blonde, I can create many hair styles with it, and it makes me feel very pretty. This is a dream for many little girls, especially for those who love to dress up and play princess, who love to brush their hair, who love to put their hair in plaits and bunches and braids
and buns and pony tails. However, 1,500 children every year in the UK alone are diagnosed with cancer and undergo treatment which, in most cases, results in hairloss. Thats 700 little princesses ever year.
The Little Princess Trust is a charity launched in 2006, in memory of Hannah Tarplee. They provide real hair wigs, free of charge, to girls across the UK and Ireland that have lost their own hair through cancer treatment. To get the hair necessary for the wigs, they ask the public to donate their own hair and send it to the charity. Pop sensation Jessie J even donated all of her hair to The Little Princess Trust back in 2013.
In June I will be partaking in the Race for Life, which I do every year, but this year I will be going the extra mile and donating all my hair to The Little Princess Trust. This is something I've been wanting to do for a while now, and while the charity only asks for a minimum of 7inches of hair, (as they do create wigs for boys too!) I have now reached round 23inches and hope to get it even longer.
So, this year, I will be asking my friends and family for fundraising towards my Race for Life, and till then I shall be selling crafts and cakes and more! And of course, I myself will be donating all my hair to a fantastic charity.
What I would also love is if people wanted to do the Race with me, or even want to donate hair with me (remember you can just donate 7inches!) I know cancer effects everybody one way or another, and it's very important that we all stand up and fight it and help the ones that are affected.
If you would like to find out more about the charities, here are the links, and the link to my fundraising page.
Thankyou very much for your kindness.
