This event is for Scout Leaders who hold a T1 permit and have completed their Terrain 2 steep ground training, or have extensive prior knowledge, or NGB training to the level of Moutnain Leader.
The session is run for a whole day to assess your knowledge and ability to keep a group safe and deal with
emergencies on Terrain 2 ground. You will also be assessed on route finding, spotting on steep steps, confidence roping, lowering a climber secured with a rope, abseiling.
There is a set of paperwork that you will need to submit at least one week before the course commences:
- An activity permit application form
- A log book of your personal hillwalking activities and group work from the last three years, including any training courses you have attended. This must cover at least three mountain areas and include scrmbling / steep ground routes.
- A route plan for a day out in Terrain 2 with your section (the assessor will set an area or starting point for you)
- A risk assessment for the day out (above).
