This event is for Scout Leaders who have completed their Terrain 1 training, or have extensive prior knowledge, or NGB training in hillwalking.
The session is run through the afternoon and into the dark evening to assess your knowledge and ability to keep a group safe, deal with emergencies and navigate
safely in daylight and reduced visibility on Terrain 1 ground. We will aim to finish at around 6pm.
There is a set of paperwork that you will need to submit at least one week before the course commences:
- An activity permit application form
- A log book of your personal hillwalking activities and group work from the last three years, including any training courses you have attended
- A route plan for a day out in Terrain 1 with your section (the assessor will set an area or starting point for you)
- A risk assessment for the day out (above).
You will also be expected to present a five minute session during the assessment on something that would interest a group that you are leading, to do with the environment you are in.
