During the late 1890s and early 1900s, a network of missions and schools developed to serve the African-American population in the eastern part of our diocese. To trace the story of this remarkable, and now largely forgotten, chapter in our diocesan history, the diocesan History & Archives Committee
is conducting a one-day pilgrimage by chartered bus. Pilgrims will start at Saint Augustine's University and travel past the two early sites of St. Ambrose, Raleigh, on the way to site stops at St. Matthias', Louisburg; St. Anna's, Littleton (with lunch break); All Saints', Warrenton; St. Luke's, Warren County/Norlina and St. Cyprian's, Oxford, before returning to Raleigh.
The tour is taking place on Saturday, April 7. It departs at 9a.m. and will return at 6p.m. The cost for the day is $50.00 and includes the coach fare and lunch. Registrations are limited and will be accepted in the order received. Please register and pay online or reserve your spot by contacting Lynn Hoke, 919-602-4305. At that time you will receive information about online or mail-in payment and other event details. Full info: http://www.dionc.org/digital_faith/events/3177206
