Chris served 14 years as a United States Marine. He was injured in Iraq from the impact of a Rocket Propelled Grenade (RPG) blast in April 2005. Deployed to Afghanistan in 2009, he was again injured in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast. Both blasts have caused a Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
involving a number of neurological episodes, to include: slurred speech, balance, fine and gross motor skill problems.
Currently, the Michigan VA’s do not provide Traumatic Brain Injury treatment. The Polytrauma Center in Minnesota was not able to accept him due to the level of daily nursing care Chris requires.
Chris attends Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy in Greenville at this time and is currently followed by Neurology at St. Mary’s Hospital. We are seeking treatment in Grand Rapids for Arp Wave Therapy, Neurofeedback and Biofeedback at Neurocore. Chris was accepted to the Rocky Mountain Hyperbaric Treatment Center in Louisville, Colorado July 8-August 3.
This dinner, live and silent auction will help to cover the cost of the Arp Wave Therapy, Biofeedback, Neurofeedback, lodging and transportation to the Rocky Mountain Hyperbaric Treatment (HBOT) Center. Chris has had all of these treatments, minus the HBOT, in January- February 2014. The organization that funded this previously no longer provides those services. These treatments have helped Chris tremendously before and the Michigan VA does not provide them.
Monetary donations can be made to a PayPal account set up specifically for Chris’s treatments at HopeForChrisUSMC@gmail.com
