Sidiki Dembele is coming to High Wycombe to run a weekend of djembe and dundun workshops - advanced level on Saturday and mixed level on Sunday.
Sidiki is an internationally reknowned master of the djembe who brings a wealth of knowledge and tradition from his West African griot family roots which
includes playing the donso ngoni and kamelan ngoni. We'll also hear a taste of these stringed instruments at some point during each day accompanied by singing.
Sidiki grew up in Cote d'Ivoire and over recent years has been leading his Brothers Tour project which involves working with drumming groups around the UK in order to raise funds to build a school in Abobo. Local drumming groups The Hartbeats Vitae Drummers and Africa Junction took part in this culminating in performance in High Wycombe on 22nd November 2014. I'm sure that many of those drummers will be looking forward to learning from Sidiki again! This workshop is of course open to all students of the djembe / dundun - so make sure you book your place asap!
See http://www.sidikidjembe.org/sidiki-s-story/ for more information about Sidiki.

If the car park is busy, you can park in the school car park opposite this entrance on the other side of Hamilton Road.
My Hartbeats van will be parked next to the door to the room we use for the workshops. This room is immediately on the left as you go through the entrance with the black gates.
Hope to see you there!
