On uncedeed Esquimalt and Songhees territory:
Stand up for youth in care with First Call: BC Child and Youth Advocacy Coalition and Fostering Change.
Most young adults in BC can count on financial support, relationships, and family connections to help them get
a good start in life and the transition to independence. Youth from government care in BC don't always have that support, and it's time for things to change.
At 19, many youth in care in BC end up homeless and struggle to navigate independence without support that most of us rely on. Many live with mental health issues, unstable care, and inconsistent education. We struggle with life skills and the complex system navigation to meet daily needs like shelter and food.
Show your appetite for change and demonstrate to youth that we want support for youth from care into adulthood. Come out to the rally for a creative demonstration and public call - we are here to help.
First Call is proudly working alongside Vancouver Foundation's Fostering Change initiative to create this day.
Earlier in the day, advocates and allies are meeting with dozens of MLAs that signed the Fostering Change pledge over lunch, at 12PM at Hotel Grand Pacific. We'd like youth there - please get in touch with firstname.lastname@example.org.
