Please join us at the farm this spring for our homesteading series. The workshops in this series are meant to reunite us with the land that supports us through traditional craft education, skill building workshops, and field experiences. Using Weir River Farm as our classroom, our partners will lead
participants through in-depth and hands-on educational programs to teach new skills and inspire appreciation for New England's natural resources.
Learn the process of creating yarn, from sheep to shawl. Fiber arts expert, Betsy Alspach, will lead a 3-hour workshop at the farm teaching the entire process starting with choosing a fleece and washing fleece, the basics of dyeing, carding and combing, and then demonstrate spinning on a drop spindle and spinning wheel. When the presentation is over participants get the opportunity to practice what they’ve learned.
Parking is located at 227 East Street, Hingham (This address is a one-way drive, typically reserved for authorized vehicles only, so please drive carefully and park behind the red barn).
