Course Overview

Whether you’re a mobile personal trainer or you work in a gym, running is an activity which all personal trainers can easily perform with their clients.

Running brings about many rewards for clients, from the novice who has completed their first 5k, to the experienced marathon runner who has hit a new PB.

However, running isn’t simply about ‘getting out there for a run’. Do you know how to design an effective, periodised training plan? Do you have the knowledge of how to assess your client’s running gait and provide corrective exercises to improve their running performance?

This course provides you with a the knowledge of how design running programmes and write a periodised training schedule for all running abilities.

At the end of the course you will be able to identify common biomechanical errors in running by performing gait anaylsis and prescribe corrective exercises and drills.

What do I need to bring on the day?

Pens, clipboards and notepads will be provided. An iphone or ipad with Ubersense in addition to a heart rate monitor will be advantageous however these will be provided to use on the day if required.

Are lunch and refreshments provided?

Lunch is not provided, however drinks and light refreshments will be provided on the day. There are a couple of eating establishments nearby, however you may wish to bring your own lunch, snacks and drinks.

What if I need to cancel my course?

We ask you to give 48 notice if you wish to cancel a course to receive a full refund. If you cancel with less than 48 hours your course can be transferred to an alternative date. You can only transfer a maximum of one time.

Are there any practical activities on the day?

Yes the course will involve physical activities related to the course content including running drills and fitness testing which you will be required to participate in.

What should I wear?

Please wear clothing and footwear which is suitable for exercise, you may wish to bring a spare set of clothes.

Will there be any assessments on the course?

Yes, you will be assessed at the end of Day 1 and Day 2 through a verbal Q & A session with the course tutor and group. You will also be required to submit a case study 4 weeks upon completing the 2 day course. You must pass this case study to pass the course.

Do I need any minimum qualifications to attend?

To gain your REPs points you need to be qualified to a minimum of Level 3, however this course is also suitable for Running/Sports Coaches and Level 2 Fitness Instructors (you will not receive any REPs points if you are not Level 3 qualified)
