Are you coming down! Let us Know...
We would like to welcome all of you to join our 3rd annual Family Fun Fair and Pet Adoption christened Ruff and Stuff Pet Fest©, and will be held ASAP, at Halmich Park in Warren 12N until after the film showing approximately 6PM. The Park is located on 13 mile between Ryan and Dequindre. The event is approved and endorsed by the city of Warren and Mayor Fouts and many other political and sports figures will be in attendance.
Our event is unique in that it intends to be a true marriage of a family festival and pet adoption event. We will invoke community awareness to the pet overcrowding situation in our communities (much of this is related to foreclosure and job losses). We are confident that many of the pets needing homes would find them if the community becomes more aware of the current situation. Our media partners have declared participation and will help promote this fabulous event in order to make a true community impact and enlist change in the public’s pet management.
We will begin advertising 1 month prior to the event. Residents in the surrounding community can request a pick up or bring items to the event or the many drop off locations. Any of the listed on the www.ruffandstuff.org supplies will be useful to shelters and rescues but are only listed to insprie the community oabout dopnation possibilities.
The public can either leave their filled bags, boxes and/or large items on their porch for pick up on the designated date, call the number for a custom pick-up or bring the supplies to the September 14th event where we will be filling a Semi-truck with these items which will later be distributed to shelters and rescues in need.
Our media partners will inform the public about the event and the initiative, telling the community that a bag is not necessary to participate because they can call for custom pick up 365 days a year at 586 K10 Help (586 510 4357) or bring supplies to the September 14th, 2013 event and enjoy the adoption day.
In addition to the Semi-Truck initiative the event day is planning the following activities:
• Outdoor Movie Tent all day
• Live Band
• Bounce houses, Train Rides
• Face painters
• Children’s games
• Carnival games
• Community Education Presentations (i.e. puppy mill awareness, anti-cruelty, low cost spay neuter and shot clinic information dates etc)
• Animal Performances, Sport, and Training Exhibitions
• Purina Pro Plan Rally to Rescue Samples and Info
The event has currently confirmed:
50 Animal Rescues and Shelters
40 Vendors (performances, presentations, people and pet related products, and food/beverage)
We are looking forward to additional media, vendors, and volunteers interested in supporting and participating in this event. Vendors may be pet or people oriented. Please let us know if you have any contacts that may be interested. Anyone wishing to participate with a performance or public service presentation should promptly notify us so that we can arrange the schedule of attractions.
Pet Adoption booths are not required to stay past 6pm
