Join Folk Herbalist Amber Kennedy of Bohéme Botanika Herbals on an evening Plant ID hike through the beautiful trails of The Quabbin Reservoir in Belchertown/Ware, MA while you learn how to properly identify specific plants and:
Learn how to use a plant identification field guide.
wild plants and introduced species and some of their important uses throughout history and to modern day herbalists.
Study each plants latin and folk names, natural habitat and identifying features.
Hear interesting stories, local history and magical plant folklore too!
Materia Medica handouts will be provided for notetaking
Hikes are about an hour long and most trails accomodate the beginning hiker. Specific plants TBA and are dependent on what Mother Nature decides to reveal to us before the hike. The group will meet in the parking area at the for a short orientation before each excursion.
What to bring: Water, notebook/pencil, camera. Wear sun and bug protection, hiking attire.
Directions: We will be meeting at the Enfield Outlook which is off of Rte 9 at the Quabbin Reservoir Park entrance on the Belchertown/Ware line. Heading down rte 9 west you will travel through the town of Ware towards Belchertown and the Quabbin entrance is on the right across from the Quabbin Park Cemetery. Once you enter the park the Enfield Outlook will be on your right past Hanks Meadow. We will meet at the picnic tables there.

*Space is limited to keep groups small and have the least negative impact on the trails and nature we will be observing so pre-registration is mandatory.
*Please plan to arrive promptly at 5. If you will be late please email Amber ahead of time or you may risk the group departing without you. Refunds will not be given for late arrivals.
*All ages are welcome however this specific class is not geared towards children. Children under 12 are $5 with a paying adult and can be paid at the time of the hike.
*The plants don't stay in when it's raining and many times nature is at her best when the weather is ornery so with the exception of severe weather hikes will be rain or shine. In the case of cancellation the hike will be rescheduled and attendees will be notified of new date. A full refund minus any fees will be given in the case that a person is unable to attend the rain date.
