Obscure Sojourns: Tarot

Tarot cards convey artistry, symbolism, and mysticism. Join Atlas Obscura Society Denver and Joy Vernon, leader of the Denver Tarot Group, for a presentation on the history and practice of tarot. Joy will walk us through highlights of tarot's provocative history and explain different reading techniques.

Then taking inspiration from a showcase of contemporary tarot artwork and using a no-nonsense, storybook reading style, we’ll have a modern chat with divination’s grande dame.

Joy Vernon has been studying and teaching energetic and esoteric modalities for more than 25 years. Her specialty is esoteric tarot, which layers astrological and qabalistic symbolism onto the traditional tarot structure. Under her leadership, the Denver Tarot Meetup has grown into one of the largest and most active tarot-specific meetups in the country. Joy works as a tarot reader, astrologer, and teacher at Isis Books, and writes about tarot, Reiki, astrology and magic on her blog, Completely Joyous.

Guests with tickets will receive 25% off drinks at Intrepid Sojourner Beer Project. Please bring a valid ID and your ticket. Seating is not guaranteed and is available on a first-come-first-serve basis.
