Nature in Detail
Watercolor illustrations by Olga Chuykova
This exhibition features contemporary original watercolor artworks and digital prints highlighting the differences between the digital colors on our screens and the analog colors we see everyday in nature.
The subjects of the paintings and
illustrations are things you might frequently encounter but often overlook - while walking down the street, around the park, or in your apartment. The subjects have been depicted from different points of view to bring attention to every imperfection and allow us to contemplate the beauty of everything from fading flowers, drying leaves, to common birds and bugs, existing all around us in our urban environment.
About the Artist
Olga Chuykova lives and works in Berlin, Germany. She graduated from the Volgograd University of Fine Arts in Russia with a degree in Graphic Design and is a member of both the American Society of Botanical Artists and Botanical Art Society of New Zealand.
She seeks to uncover the magic, beauty, and mystery seen in the natural world all around us. Subtle, hidden, and often unnoticed detail can be observed when subjects such as leaves and flowers begin to dry, wilt, and then are replaced by fresh new growth, starting the cycle over again. She strives to capture all of this and communicate her personal experience and perspectives to others through her work.
