Homeward Animal Shelter will be hosting a microchip clinic at our shelter on Tuesday, August 22nd, from 5-7pm. Cost is $20 per pet and we can microchip any cat or dog over the age of 8 weeks. Our clinics are held on a first-come, first-served basis, so no appointment is necessary.
**Please make sure
your pets are on leashes or in carriers when attending the clinic.**
Microchips are a form of permanent identification for your pet. The microchip is implanted with a syringe under the skin, between the shoulder blades. The microchip contains only a sequence of numbers that are displayed on a microchip scanner, when the animal is scanned for a microchip. That sequence of numbers is then registered to the pet owner in a nationwide database, so that no matter where the animal is lost, once he/she is found and scanned, he/she can be returned to the rightful owner.
Homeward Animal Shelter uses PetLink microchips. PetLink offers a portal for owners to login and change their information any time they need without having to pay a fee. There are no annual fees with PetLink chips and the microchip is good for the life of the pet.
