Anshe Chesed Fairmount Temple invites you to their annual MLK Shabbat and weekend program, in co-sponsorship with the Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.
Join us on Friday, January 15 for a Shabbat service that includes many of the famous writings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and as we welcome our featured
guest speaker, Ms. Keshia Thomas.
In 1996, Keshia Thomas threw herself on a white man to protect him from the beatings of an angry mob who believed he was a supporter of the Ku Klux Klan. A high school student at the time, she chose to become a human shield for a man she did not know. That moment propelled her ona path of social justice that reverberates through her to this day. She met Fairmount Temple's rabbi Joshua Caruso while the two of them participated in Amer's Journey for Justice last summer, and she marched the entire way from Selma, AL to Washington, DC.
We know you will find Keshia's story and her insights fascinating as a modern-day civil rights leader and activist, seeking to make a difference in the world, by breaking down racial stereotypes, in the manner of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Join us. All are welcome.
