Founded in 1993, Mariachi Los Caporales has become one of the most popular groups in the San Antonio area. Los Caporales, founded by Director Roy Quintero, consists of an eleven-piece ensemble. The group's main focus-to preserve the rich, vibrant, traditional style-has rewarded Los Caporales with national
recognition and success.
The uniqueness of Mariachi Los Caporales is attributed to their strong voices, their traditional style and precision, execution, harmony and musical arrangements. While making use of some influences from new contemporary styles, the group maintains the traditional rhythms of mariachi music.
Among their most treasured accomplishments is a 5-year recording contracting with Global Music in February of 1999 and producing the CD in 1996 for Mazz, entitled, "Mazz Mariachi Tradicion", where Los Caporales provided sounds for the entire album. Los Caporales were proclaimed "Ambassadors of Goodwill" by San Antonio Mayor, Bill Thornton. In addition, Los Caporales has performed for the 1995 and 1997 Tejano Music Awards and in 1998 for the Pura Vida Awards.
Maravillas de Mexico was founded by Padre Briones over 10 years ago as an effort to help the struggling children of his parish. He found very quickly that these young children were natural dancers, and were soon running the show!
This two-hour spectacle features dances from all over Mexico, taking the audience on a tour of culture and traditions. This award winning dance troup has performed all over the midwest, and this will mark the first performance ever in Oklahoma City!
