This year marks the 5th annual Sock Hop for the Alpha House here at 510. It has been a BLAST every year and better yet it's for a cause that we can all get behind.
We truly value the work the Alpha House does in this city and they easily support us as much as we try to support them. Please join us this night for some great music and good company. Don't forget to bring some clean socks/undies/toiletries/etc for admission. Shout outs to the fine people at Steamwhistle Brewery, Sloth Records & BeatRoute (AB) for the added support and love.
"Alpha House is a non-profit charitable agency that provides safe and caring environments for individuals whose lives are affected by alcohol and other drug dependencies. Established in 1981, as a safe place for men and women struggling with health issues such as addictions, mental health and physical health. Our continuum of programs help connect with individuals facing addictions at a variety of levels such as outreach programs, a shelter program, a detox program and a housing program with case management support. The volunteer program focus includes corporate and individual support."
Moody rock undertones, expressed with significance from a bewildered mind. The tension between extracting an inner darkness and maintaining an optimistic shimmer as an antidote to mental breakdown.
Sunglaciers are making their Sled Island debut with an offering of mind-bending, kaleidoscopic psychedelia. The local three-piece are masters of heady lo-fi pop tunes that are breezier than a summer’s day float on the Bow. - Sled Island
Like fine whiskey, The Territories have improved with age. After more than two decades in the Canadian punk scene, these four former members of Knucklehead have emerged from the wilderness with a debut album that has stayed true to their classic melodic punk rock root. - https://theterritories.bandcamp.com/
Sweet soft sounds with an edge. A Weirdo-folk band that enjoys singing about their feelings.
Taking their cues from the golden age of instrumental surf and garage rock, The Special Edisons have crafted their own unique blend of lyric-free goodness that'll wake you up in the morning or keep you dancing all night. -
*This event takes place on the territory of the Blackfoot and the people of Treaty 7 Region in Southern Alberta, which includes the Siksika, the Piikuni, the Kainai, the Tsuu T'ina and the Stoney Nakoda First Nations. Calgary is also home to the Metis Nation of Alberta, Region III.
