The legs are the workhorses of our bodies. The limbs of locomotion. As much as we rely on our legs, can we have gratitude for this powerful part of the body? How do the legs feed into the pelvis and spine? When the legs are inflexible, it affects everything from digestion to sleep.
In this workshop taught by Jessica Bellofatto, founder of JBYoga, based out of East Hampton, NY, we will explore the use of the legs in a range of postures from standing to backbends to seated poses. We will learn and apply clear principles of alignment in order to use the legs in such a way that they liberate the spine, open the heart, and invite in the breath. This is a vinyasa-based practice with clear alignment woven throughout. Open to ALL levels of student…. Be willing and prepared to align and re-align your body through your own moment to moment observation , guided by your breath (the inner teacher), to move, to sweat, and to LET GO!!!
Jessica Bellofatto has been studying, practicing, and teaching the sacred art and science of Yoga for the past 22 years. First certified in the Jivamukti method way back in 1996, her style is a synthesis integrating her Jivamutki (vinyasa based) roots along with the intelligence and precision of the Iyengar system. Weaving breath, asana (posture), transformative sequencing, music, mantra, poetry, and safe and therapeutic alignment, expect to be taken on a yogic journey from gross to subtle, outer body to inner body. Jessica is also a momma of three children, a home birther, natural birth advocate, doula, surfer, triathlete, stand up paddleboard racer and one of the pioneers of SUP YOGA in the country.
