We are pleased to welcome special guest speaker Nicole Kaler.
Nicole's 16 year old daughter, Maya, has autism and she is thriving at school. However, Nicole points out that this comes after years of advocating to ensure that Maya has appropriate support at school.
Every year Nicole and her family have
had to request through the District (SD36) special permission from CUPE to have the qualified person who is with Maya to continue with her.
Nicole is passionate about making change and setting precedent in the education system for special needs students to receive support based on need and qualification. She has dedicated herself to educating and helping families about the process she has been through which includes filing a Section 11 in her school district and then proceeding with a Human Rights Tribunal.
Nicole is joining the Langley Neighborhood Network meeting on Wednesday April 11th to share her experience.
This meeting is open to parents from all districts. Please RSVP through the eventbrite link.
