PRESS RELEASE:
Another year past and so we approach the 3rd annual Konya Fest. Each band has taken time out of their busy touring schedules to once again pay tribute to the One and Only Jim Konya!
Continuing with tradition, bands have dusted off demos to relearn songs that haven’t been played live in years. Whether newer bands, or renamed all have been involved with the Cleveland scene and Jim Konya from the beginning. This years friends of Konya are as follows:

Escalation Anger - Their first release a self titled demo in ‘93, Violent Breed 7” in 94, and a split CD with Schnauzer in ‘96. The band dissolved soon after, but its members went on to other endeavors. Kyle Severn left in ‘95 and joined Incantation as full time drummer. 25 years later he jams again with his fellow friends / band-mates. Aaron Dallison who went on to create Cleveland’s power-house of progressive metal, Keelhaul and currently kicking ass with Brain Tentacles and Axioma. Geoffe Hein having played in Konya’s Spawn of Satan in ‘04, also stared a solo career, Frozen Ghost, which is still active to this day.BIG Local legend Brian Sekula who rocked KonyaFest with Terror 2 years ago will be lending his talents to playing bass, as he did for many live appearances in the 90's.

Konya was no stranger to Escalation Anger, there probably wasn’t a single show he missed. For many years after disbanding he’d approach us humming riffs and asking when we’d reform. 20 years later here we are for one last farewell in honor of our beloved friend in “devil red” pants.

Estuary - Our neighbors to the south hailing from Cincinnati. A band with roots starting under the name Necrolatry in ‘92, changing to Estuary of Calamity by ‘93, & later morphing into Estuary from 2002-2010. After almost 20 years, many demos, & full length records the band went dormant. Founder, Ash Thomas, continues to forge forward with Faithxtractor, Surgikill, & Crucified Mortals just to name a few. Having been a regular at the early 90’s gigs with Escalation Anger, Embalmer, Decrepit, and Konya bands, a tribute for Konya Fest has been arranged. A few songs for this special event to pay homage to a long time friend. The line up will consist of Ash Thomas on guitar, long time lead vocalist & Faithx bassist Zdenka Prado, fellow guitarist Cody Knarr (Faithx), Alex Conley of Prosanctus Inferi on Bass, and Kyle Severn on drums. Bringing a small dose of “Sinsinatti’s” finest from the Great Ohio River to The Great Lakes!.

Shed The Skin - An Ohio based death metal act created in tribute to their late friend and founder of Blood of Christ, Tom Rojack. Former member Matt Sorg and Kyle Severn had resurfaced Blood Of Christ for a remembrance show. Shortly afterwards they decided to start a band in the vein of early 90’s Death Metal. The same style that influenced Tom Rojack. Matt Sorg had also been main song writer for From The Depths with Jim Konya aka “Malcom Judas Anthony” on their self titled release.
Now they’re gearing up to release their highly anticipated second album, We of Scorn, summer 2018.
Shed The Skin is honored to be a part of this event. Playing a special set for both our Cleveland based fallen brothers Tom Rojack and “Malcom Judas Anthony”!

Parking is available at 5001 Prospect Avenue, behind the venue.
