Kicking Cancer With Jodi & Alysia

A fundraising benefit will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at Rookies from 1:00 - 7:00 pm for Jodi Pingel and Alysia Makuski-Claussen.

Our story - Jodi was diagnosed with Pneumonia on August 31st. After not getting better after a week and a half, a CT scan was performed which showed a large mass

in the middle of her chest and was determined to be Lymphoma Cancer. Jodi was immediately admitted to the hospital. She ended up in CCU after a complication from draining fluid from her lungs. Many tests were performed to determine the specific type of lymphoma prior to starting treatment. Before finishing all the testing, Jodi was sent to Madison and spent 6 days in the hospital for her first round of chemo because the cancer was aggressive and growing at a rapid rate affecting her ability to breath and swallow. As of November 10th, she has received 3 chemo treatments of a total of 6 scheduled. September was a blur after in and out of the hospital. She continues to fight with her motivation being her almost 3 year old daughter, Rilan!

Alysia ended up in the ER with a high fever the first weekend in October. Monday morning woke up with horrible back and chest pain and was dehydrated. A CT scan showed several enlarged lymph nodes. After another high fever and oxygen level at 71%, Alysia was transferred to Wausau. Surgery was performed to remove an entire lymph node from her throat. Due to low oxygen levels, Alysia was placed in an induced coma with a breathing tube and was administered chemo for 3 days. Alysia had spent 22 days in the hospital. As of November 10th, Alysia is still waiting on the official diagnosis to determine her next steps for treatment. She is in watch and wait to see when she will fall ill again and next steps will be determined for a biopsy, removal of another lymph node or additional chemo treatments.

As you can see, medical, prescription costs, travel for treatment and not being able to work full time has a financial burden on both of these ladies and their families.

The event will include: Entertainment, Basket Raffle, 50/50 Raffle and Bake Sale.

We hope to see you there! If you are interested in donating a basket, items for a basket or baked goods, please contact Jodi, Alysia or one of the Admins.
