Italian Noise/Punk/Wave Night with:
HIS ELECTRO BLUE VOICE (Sub Pop / Iron Lung / Maple Death)
After countless records HEBV's last full length is a few years already old. Now they return with a brand new record on IRON LUNG / MAPLE DEATH records called "Mental Hoop".
Como, Italy’s premier post-psyche
drone-rock attack band, His Electro Blue Voice, make wonderfully stressful music. It’s the anxious, wound too tight, walls-closing-in sound of non-existence at one end, and death at the other. Metronome kraut-drums drive almost every song, guitars wash and pierce like infernal unattended power tools, while singer Francesco Mariani bleats and rants his existential concerns to an empty sky. Their last album came out on Sub Pop in 2013. Shockingly, it didn’t sell a million copies. The kids are fickle in their despair I guess. (NOISEY)
HAVAH (Maple Death)
At face value, Ravenna, Italy's Havah makes dark rock with a soul of stone, a melancholic coming-to-terms with the fight against historic evils, which rise and threaten once more. Ostensibly a concept album about resistance fighters — some barely in their teens — in the mountains and countryside around Ravenna, who fought back for their own survival against Nazis and brownshirts alike during WWII, Contravveleno's songs are based on the tales passed down from that generation onward.
The group's third album, Contravveleno pushes the physicality of the genre in which they traffic with attendant sophistication and grace. It's the sort of genre worship you can expect from bands outside of America; far enough away to abstract its influences, and re-cut them into an interesting new reflection. (NPR)
IMPULSO (Erste Theke Tonträger)
From the ashes of SANG this in Trento based hardcore clusterbomb delivers 4 feedback drenched hardcore songs in the best way you could have in 2017! After outstanding releases by bands like BLOTTER, GAG, SIN MOTIVO, MIRROR, BIB, or DAUDYFLIN this italian maniacs continue with the weird style of hardcore.
IMPULSO are noisy, chaotic and explosive and each track rages with anger and intensity. Guitar layers of repetition create a bed of noise when the delay infected vocals lay painfully.
Though they're loud, fast, and 100% hardcore punk, the songs and particularly the playing feels fleshed out and lived in in a way that most hardcore bands can only aspire to. Get weird!
