This hike will be 6 to 7 miles and will start on Hwy 281 just south of the Hwy 49 intersection and end at the new gate on the CCC Road near Oxford. The first few miles will follow along the headwaters of Hillabee Creek before joining the CCC Road shortly before the CCC rock bridge. This was the original
road from Oxford to Cheaha State Park. After the bridge, we will pass many rock retaining walls built by the CCC and then travel around the northern end of Blue Mountain. About one mile from the end, we will cross the Pinhoti Trail. Participants should pack a lunch with water and should dress appropriately for the forecasted weather conditions. The departure time and location for this outing will be 8:00 am from the Publix parking lot located at the Oxford Exchange adjacent to exit 188 on I-20 and US Hwy 78.
