Okay Jeepers & JeepHers. We are all coming together to help fellow jeeper, Heidi Bertrand-Chatham.
On December 7th, 2016, Heidi was diagnosed with ovarian & breast cancer. For those who don't Heidi, let me give you little history. Heidi & her family moved here in 2007 and resided in Groves until 2014
and now reside in Port Acres. She is a stay-at-home mother to 3 children, Delilah (16 months), Alannah-Jade (11 yrs) and Malakai (13 yrs). She has been married to her husband & best friend, Larry Chatham for 14 years. She loves praising God, jeeps and her jeep family, coffee, animal rescue, participating in Relay for Life and spending quality time with her family.
On December 20th, 2016, Heidi had her first surgery, which was a complete radical hysterectomy and oophorectomy. Surgery was successful in removing 100% of ovarian cancer.
On January 20th, 2017, Heidi will be visiting Dr. Bradley Hubbard in Dallas for her first pre-surgical appointment to discuss the entire process from removal of implants, mascetomy, cancer removal and the reconstruction of the breasts.
On February 2nd, 2017, Heidi will have another oncology appointment with Dr. Malaty.
Heidi has Stage II-III in her left breast & Stage III-IV in her right breast. Due to the fact Heidi has breast implants, her insurance company is not co-operating to pay for the surgery. Both implants must be removed to complete the mastectomy and the insurance company is claiming it to be a cosmetic procedure. We are talking to the doctors and insurance company daily but a conclusion is not in the foreseeable future.
Cost of surgery is approximately $5,400.
So, to help raise funds to help cover some of the cost, if not all of it, we will be having a benefit.
It will be a Gumbo & Chili Cookoff with a bake sale, raffle and auction.
You can also make monetary donations at BBVA Compass.
Donations can be made at any branch.
