Join us as we continue building a new section of the Gales Creek Trail!
In previous work parties we cleared a long section of brush and built some of the trail. We are continuing building the new section of trail (reroute of existing trail.) This is a popular trail that needs work
to remain usable for the variety of people that use this area. The project location is about 1/2 mile below the start of the trail at the Summit Trail Head. We will be clearing brush, flagging out where the tread will be located, and continuing the portion where we have completed the tread.
The work area is about 1/2 mile from the Summit trail head. Because of the nature of this work party we will be spending much of the day off the trail on steep hillsides.
What to Expect
You should expect to work rain or shine building new trail. Expect cool weather and a good chance of precipitation, so bring layered clothing, rain gear and a can-do attitude!
What to Bring
Plenty of water
Gloves if you have them (loaner gloves available)
What to Wear
Work gloves (loaner gloves available),
Long sleeved shirts, and pants (no shorts, there is devils club in the area where we will be working!)
Rain gear as appropriate for the weather

The Summit trail head is about 35 miles West of Portland on Hwy 6. Take Hwy 26 West out of Portland and take Hwy 6 towards Tillamook . Keep going past the Gales Campground sign about 3 miles. At mile post 33, look for a large gravel pull out on the right with a trail head sign.
