First Annual Northern Arizona Educators Conference

Join us for Northern Arizona's first annual Educators Conference: “Education & Liberation Not Deportation,” co-hosted by the Frantz Fanon Community Strategy Center at Prescott College and Scholarships A-Z.

This day-long professional development training will provide educators, school counselors, students,

community organizers, and advocates with tools and information needed to better support, protect, and fight for ALL (DACAmented & undocumented) immigrants and refugees in our schools.

Experienced students and educators will facilitate workshops covering topics including:

Current and relevant immigration-related legislation (including DACA)

Student testimonies and issues specific to Northern Arizona schools

Scholarships available to undocumented students

Local and national resources available to undocumented students and their families

Action planning around the specific needs of your school and community

Participants will leave with a certificate that recognizes their completion of the training.

We invite representatives from all over Northern Arizona to join us in this vital and long-overdue training, dialogue, and planning session!

Keynote Speaker:
Laura Emiko Soltis, Ph.D., Executive Director of Freedom University

As an experienced social movement strategist, Emiko works to advance the undocumented student movement by building bridges between undocumented and documented student groups, advocating for fair admissions policies in higher education, mobilizing diverse documented allies, and cultivating intergenerational relationships between undocumented students and veterans of the Black Freedom Movement. Emiko continues to serve as the Professor of Human Rights, teaching classes in international human rights, social movement theory, and immigration history.

Freedom University provides tuition-free education, college application, scholarship assistance, and social movement leadership training to undocumented students banned from public higher education in Georgia.Their mission is to empower undocumented youth and fulfill their human right to education.
