About the Workshop
The muscles in our hips allow us to stabilise our pelvis, move our legs from side to side, draw our knees toward the chest, raise our legs in all directions, walk, run, pedal, and perform many
other simple and complex actions.
Our hips are hard workers, which may lead to tightness if we do not balance the load with appropriate stretches. Short, tight hip muscles can significantly reduce range of motion, weaken our glutes, and tilt the pelvis – potentially resulting in overuse of the spine, tension and back pain caused by excessive curvature in the lumbar and cervical spine.
Working mindfully on Hips and Legs Flexibility has many benefits, from improved circulation and range of motion to decreased back pain and an energetic shift or release through opening the hips. Internally, it can create space for the birth of new ideas and pathways, and help us lead a more grounded, fulfilling and creative life.
In this workshop we will explore Hips and Legs stretches in different directions, addressing the full range of movements that hip and leg joint can perform together. We will build up the practice from beginner foundational hip stretches and progress into more advanced ones.
We will also learn to use different props such as blocks, belts, walls and wheels to help us experience different angles in our Hips and Legs Flexibility journey.
All levels are welcome!
