Come beat to the tune of your own drum! We are so excited to be bringing the Drum Cafe to the burbs! Join us for an hour of amazing connection with fabulous women while drumming together.
The Drum Cafe describes these drumming events this way: "The drum is an ancient tool of communication and community
building. In Africa and in many other cultures around the world, before any major tribal decision is made, the community gathers together at the centre of the village to make music. This joyous making of music breaks down barriers and creates a sense of unity, thus enabling communities to become more effective in their decision-making."
Date: Saturday, January 30th, 2016
* We will head to the Jolly Coachman afterward for some well-earned nachos (or whatever you choose).
Place: South Bonson Community Centre, Pitt Meadows
Event Fee: $40 - includes one heart filled hour of drumming and your charitable contribution
Charitable Organization: *Pending approval: Golden Ears Gogos. Given the connection of women across generations, and the link to Africa through drumming and the Gogos, we had to support the great work they do. "Gogo" is the Zulu word for grandmother; as grandmothers and "grandothers", this group raises funds and awareness for the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign to support the African grandmothers who are raising grandchildren orphaned by AIDS.
