Configurations of Love
The portraits in my Configurations of Love series are at once worshipful, and self-critical of the patterns and expectations that I impose on my lovers and friends.
My goal is to celebrate gay male attraction, while also admitting that much of what I see in the men I most admire
is the shimmering reflection of my own self-doubt, expectation, and longing -- a mirage perpetually out of reach.
I seek to admire the beauty of the mirage while also coming to deeper terms with its impermanence and insubstantiality, freeing those I've imposed upon, in the process.
About the Artist
I spent the first 25 years of my life in Huntsville, Alabama. Art has always been my way of attempting to understand the things that elude me. I draw as a form of meditation.
