Colourful, Contrasting Cables

Cable knitting is a time-honoured classic now found in all manner of hand-knitted garments and accessories as well as traditional arran jumpers. The simple process of crossing one set of stitches over another can result in an array of beautiful, textured stitch patterns that are a pleasure to knit and

we’re going to extend this process by working our cables in a different colour to the background fabric to create stunning, vibrant designs.

During this workshop we will learn how to follow cable patterns from charts, and apply stranded colour and intarsia techniques to cable bright, bold motifs. We will work two designs that could form part of a patchwork blanket / cushion cover or, on their own, will make a useful coaster, bookmark or greetings card.

The cost of this 3 hour workshop (1pm-4pm) is £25 and includes your yarn, project bag, pattern, tuition and notes – you just need to bring your knitting needles! To help ensure that all participants receive plenty of individual attention while they develop these new skills, places will be limited to ten. Your place will be confirmed upon full payment of the fee. This workshop is suitable for those who can cast on, knit and purl and who have an interest in learning or improving their cable knitting.
