BIO:
World leaders, powerful CEOs, and assorted other fat cats could learn myriad lessons from Chromeo, but the number one tip that Dave 1 and P-Thugg have is this: Know thyself, know thy vibe, and stay thy course. The rest of the population will catch up. What this means is that Chromeo is really good at being Chromeo. The mission, the package, the vision—it’s been a straight shot of pure intentionality from the jump. These Chromeo dudes? They have the whole being-these-Chromeo-dudes thing totally wired.

Electro-funk duo Chromeo formed in Montreal in the early 21st century, a project of former hip-hop producers Dave 1 and P-Thugg (news flash: not their given names). Dave handled guitars and vocals; P was the talkbox-wielding synth specialist. From the beginning, Chromeo made it clear that the name of their well-dressed game would be artful detachment, earnest songwriting, retro breakdowns, and gleaming plastic beats -- not serious intent or aggressive musical regime change.

The duo’s highest Billboard debut, 2014’s White Women, featured Solange, Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, and in affirmation of their indebtedness to early-80’s R&B, vocalist Tawatha Agee (of Mtume). The pair returned in 2017 with the single “Juice.” Don’t miss Chromeo at Newport Music Hall on June 21st!
