You are invited to the 15th annual Winter Solstice Ceremony sponsored by Kalpulli Ixtatutli de Sacramento. We are thankful for yet another year and look forward to celebrating the will of Huitzilopochtli, the birth of a new sun.
Huitzilopochtli is also known to have brought together the people and led
a pilgrimage that culminates in the finding of lake Tetzkuko and the foundation of the city of Tenochtitlan. Huitzilopochtli represents "ganas" and the idea that you can, "Si Se Puede!"
As the sun is far and begins its journey back, it's also a time to reflect, a time to thank the earth for the food it has provided, and a time to honor those that have given, and have survived to tell the story, thus think of our elders. During the time of reflection, it allows us to look within ourselves to find strength and make decisions that help make us better people and once again rise in full strength like the sun.
Join us on this day as we attempt to culminate the strength and the will to bring in the new sun within us, give thanks to our earth for the food it has provided, and honor elder Anaii Aranda.
We thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you at this year's ceremony.
