CASA volunteers require no special background or education. A CASA works as the eyes and ears of the court to gather and present pertinent information as a voice for the child’s best interest. A CASA submits a written report to help the court make the best decision regarding the child's future. They also monitor the case to ensure the child's needs are being met towards a goal of permanency. Volunteer advocates are assigned one case at a time. The average time spent on each case varies, but usually averages to 10 - 15 hours per month depending on the number of children in the family and the current issues.
