Imagine Bloomfield invites the community to join the board and an invited guest from the city for public meeting about that status of the Bloomfield site, and in particular the Fielding Building (the old school that fronts on Agricola Street).
Imagine Bloomfield and other community partners have
been working tirelessly for over 17 years to get the Bloomfield site converted (back) into a community-run not-for-profit cultural and arts centre. In August 2017, HRM council voted for the Fielding Building to be carved off from the site for this purpose, with the idea that the Province could possibly purchase the remainder of the site for an Acadian school. Now that the Province has confirmed they are not going to be using the site for a school, it appears that the city would like to move forward with selling the entire site to a developer.
It's now or never for the Imagine Bloomfield dream to be realized, and we say BLOOMFIELD NOW! The city hasn't made any firm decisions yet, so now is the time to come together to mobilize. We need to show that there is a need for community-run arts spaces in the North End, and that we are capable of making this happen.
If you'd like to be on the agenda to speak about your need for space either as an individual or as an organization please get in touch with us through Facebook to get on the list.
