Earth Day Austin is pleased to partner with Bicycle Sport Shop, Austin's Yellow Bike Project, and the Ghisallo Cycling Initiative to collect, repair and redistribute bikes for young people at the Earth Day ATX event Saturday, April 21 at Huston-Tillotson University (900 Chicon Street). Winners of bikes
will also receive a bike helmet, proper bike and helmet fittings, safety training and the opportunity to test their new wheels in a bicycle rodeo.
How to donate a used bike:
Drop off your outgrown/underutilized/broken bicycle(s) (of any size/condition) at any one of the five Austin area Bicycle Sport Shop locations and/or the Austin Yellow Bike Project center in East Austin, now through March 31st.
Yellow Bike Project volunteers and mechanics will make sure the bikes are in complete working order. To volunteer to repair bikes, visit http://austinyellowbike.org/
During Earth Day ATX on Saturday, April 21 there will be a bike release at Huston-Tillotson University. Student winners of the on-site drawing will receive a new-to-them bike, a new helmet, and the opportunity to participate in a safety skill Bike Rodeo hosted by Ghisallo Cycling Initiative.
