An ideal follow on to Mastering Studio Lighting - the Essentials or for those who are already familiar with studio lighting. The format of the courses is a hands-on workshop with classroom sessions in the morning and practical photo shoots in the afternoon.
It is recommended
that students have a good understanding of aperture, shutter speed, ISO, white balance and the various methods of focussing, however for those who don't help will be on hand throughout the day.
During the day we look at how to run a Beauty and Fashion shoot, working with make-up artists and stylists, shooting for a client and how to shoot for publication as well as portfolio work.
We cover several beauty lighting set-ups, using a ring flash and how to use coloured gels and reflectors and manipulate white balance to create drama and interest. We'll aim to complete 2 to 3 different fashion lighting set-ups.
During the classroom sessions we work on de-constructing lighting from a number of images to learn how to replicate certain styles and prepare for the afternoons shoot.
The workshop takes place at Millwood Studios, Manchester. Millwood studios is set over 3500 sq feet within two floors, resurrected from the remnants of an old Victorian factory is a fusion of the modern and old.
