In the zen tradition, day-long retreats, called zazenkai, provide a less intense, generally more accessible venue for deepening one's practice. The Day of Mindfulness is offered in this spirit, for beginners as well as experienced practitioners.
The theme this time around will be on the benefits of
assessing where we are in life, where we wish to go, and how aligned we are in our actions and thoughts with how we wish to conduct our lives. There will be sitting and walking meditation, hatha-yoga, deep relaxation, dharma talk and discussion and private interview with the teacher. Outside of the discussion period and interviews, we follow the tradition of 'noble silence,' including during lunch.
There are two opportunities to join us: Arrive by 8:00 AM OR between 9:30 and 9:45 AM.
Bring your own yoga mat and bagged lunch. Coffee, tea and water are provided.
Tuition is only $15 for the whole day toward Sangha expenses. Dana (offerings) for the teachers is gratefully accepted.
