On Saturday, January 23, 2016 the Hillsborough County CERT program in partnership with USF CERT, Greater Tampa CERT, Hillsborough County ARES/RACES, Hillsborough County MRC, Disaster Jeep Club, USF HOSA, USF Disaster & Humanitarian Relief Student Collaborative and the American Red Cross will be hosting
a full-scale exercise incorporating Incident Command, Mapping, Communications, Triage, and Search & Rescue.
The event is designed to assign approx. 10-12 participants on one of four teams. Participants are asked to sign up for one of the four available teams in Eventbrite. We ask that you arrive at John B. Sargeant Park between 8am-8:30am to check-in.
We will have each team rotate through each mini-exercise learning about mapping, setting up an Incident Command post, communications, and triage. Each 40-minute session will include a refresher/training session and for the team to practice the skills that they have learned. The final hour will include a full-scale external search-and-rescue exercise that will continue for about 40 minutes. A debrief/hotwash that will take place following the final exercise to hear each of your thoughts on the teams response. Following the exercise lunch will be provided.
You should be dressed for search & rescue activities, i.e. - long durable pants (jeans), shirt, durable shoes or boots, and any Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) you may have any.
*** If you are part of the planning team, volunteering as a disaster victim, instructing or assisting with logistics (and will not be participating with a team), please register under the Volunteer ticketing options.
