It's time to climb the purple monster! You've heard the stories, now face your fears! You ARE ready to conquer it!
From Mission Bay, we head across the valley to start climbing up Murphy Canyon. Then we head up Pomerado road into Poway, where we meet Scripps Poway Parkway (aka the Purple Monster). At
the top, we're at around 1800 feet of elevation! From there, we head down the 67 into Santee for lunch, then back across Mission Gorge and Mission Valley to finish.

Terrain: Rolling hills with some steady climbing
Meet up: 7:30 am
Safety Speech: 7:45 am -- ALL MUST BE PRESENT!
Ride-out: 8:00 am SHARP!
You CAN do it and the ALC certified Training Ride Leaders are here to make sure you have all the support and encouragement you need. We are friendly, fun and ALL skill levels are welcome. NO RIDER WILL EVER BE LEFT BEHIND.
REQUIRED ITEMS FOR ALL TRAINING RIDES (in addition to your bike!):
2 water bottles or 1 hydration pack (like a CamelBak) - 1 bottle should be filled with an electrolyte replacement drink
Bike frame pump or CO2 cartridges
Patch kit or Spare tube
Snacks (energy bars are good and quick!)
Money for rest stops
PLEASE NOTE: In keeping with the AIDS/LifeCycle Code of Conduct, Team San Diego obeys ALL traffic laws, stops at all stop signs and stoplights, and practices safe riding at all times. ALL participants must be present for the safety speech, which will begin promptly at 7:45am. No exceptions!
