Elvensword Arena is a hole in the Warp, held open by a mighty Elvensword from a time so ancient that none can remember it, not even the Great Ones themselves. The sword’s power field was first rediscovered by the Tau Empire and exploited as a safe meeting place to
engage potential allies, meeting Imperial Guard commanders who wished to join the Greater Good unglimpsed. Not even the greatest of the Tyranid Hive Minds can sense its location and it is beyond the means of normal Daemons to sense its presence directly.
The Tau did not realize they had discovered the domain of the Great Ones. It was only the Tau's unique lack of a signature in the warp that allowed them to go unnoticed by the vestiges of even these mighty beings for some time. Some say the time warping effects of the power field are what gave the Tau countless centuries to develop their race when only a small fraction of that passed in real space.
Whatever the truth may be, the presence of the Tau Empire guests did not go unnoticed forever. The Great Ones took a greater and greater quiet interest in the machinations of those who dared venture into their domain. It became clear to them that these races competed with one another for both control of space and time. Given enough of both, one would prevail on the Final War that was foreseen 40,000 years before. In an endeavor to monitor this progress and influence it faster to its logical conclusion, the Great Ones stayed time completely and then chose Ambassadors from every faction to represent their kind, bringing them to the arena.
And so it is that you, the greatest sentient factions in the galaxy, are gathered each year and allowed to compete for the favor of the Great Ones in your endless wars. No one knows for sure how long it has gone on, and it is sensed by some who compete that they have been in this time and place before, but the details are as a dream.
The one thing that is known: sixteen Ambassadors enter the arena—one leaves. That one brings with him a token of great hope that his faction will have the backing of the Great Ones when the Final War begins.
Rules and clarifications can all be found there, as can the actual Missions you will be facing. All of these should be fully updated by the time registration starts on November 19th.
This is one of the most highly funded and supported tournaments in Washington State, as its previous attendees will attest. It is the signature event for the Olympia/Tacoma area and we were able to fill the first bracket within about two hours of the start of registration last year. Therefore we encourage your lordships to be ready to board your starships at the appointed date registration begins. The second bracket was esssentially filled within two days. We anticipate that it will be similar this year.
The Arena is unique in that every faction is represented just once by its Ambassadors in each bracket, and you will never battle the same faction twice. Not only does this encourage a truer all comers approach, but we have designed the missions to further encourage balanced forces and to be more akin to normal Warhammer 40,000 than the ITC missions allow while still being unique and challenging. Our primary goal is to see the Codex represented in its full panoply to the extent our supereme Ambassadors are able.
Yet this will in fact BE an ITC event and a GT event no less, for those who are aspiring to the highest rankings among your brethren. Take advantage of this opportunity not only to earn your favor with the Great Ones for the Final War, but also to garner the recognition you so richly deserve among your peers.
We provide the food necessary, so you are disallowed from swallowing other Ambassadors inbetween matches. Drinks and snacks are all there to keep you energized and hydrated so as to maintain your focus in battle. Only the very best efforts will avail you in the arena. We expect no less of you, for the future of your entire races may depend on the outcome...
