The 20th Annual National Dance Education Organization Conference
Connections, Knowledge, and Leadership:
A NEW ERA IN DANCE EDUCATION
Held annually in the fall, a typical NDEO National Conference includes
three full days of over 150 workshops, master classes, panel and paper presentations, social events and performances. A full day of pre-conference intensives precedes the official start of conference. The full conference schedule is generally released online over the summer before that year's conference. Join NDEO for our 20th annual National Conference to advance the NDEO Priorities for Dance Education:
CONNECT THE FIELD | BUILD KNOWLEDGE | CULTIVATE LEADERSHIP
**Early Bird Registration Deadline: May 30, 2018**
California's legacies of activism, creativity, and diversity have fostered a unique climate where progressive ideas in the arts and education can thrive. In this new era, it is essential that we as dance educators make mindful connections, deepen our knowledge, and lead with purpose in the classroom, the studio, the stage, and beyond. Come prepared to hear presentations designed in response to the following questions:
-Connection: In your teaching, how do you connect to your students with relevant, engaging practices that respond to differences in ability, socio-economic status, religious practices, body image, gender-identity, culture, etc.? How are you building connections with other dance programs across sectors, genres, geography, and cultures? How can we use dance as a vehicle to connect communities during shifts in economics, politics and demographics?
-Knowledge:How do we expand and disseminate experiential, embodied, and scholarly research to reenvision how knowledge informed by dance can impact civic engagement, systems, and identity in a new era?
-Leadership:How do we model, grow, and develop leadership that inspires innovative programming, political engagement, and local/global advocacy while advancing dance as an art form?
Unless otherwise indicated (for special sessions), your full conference registration includes all sessions during the three days of conference and pre-registration is not necessary for individual sessions. Pre-registration and additional fees do apply to pre-conference intensives. One-day and student conference registration fees are available. Registration deadlines are also payment deadlines. Any unpaid registrations after rate deadline will be automatically increased to the next and current registration rate.
